A little bit about me

Hanging out in a hammock aboard the replica East Indiaman Amsterdam at Het Scheepvaartmuseum, The Netherlands.

Writing a blog is something that I fell into on a whim. While wracking my brains during an employability workshop, in an apparently fruitless attempt to compile a list of skills and interests befitting of a Modern Languages undergraduate, I jotted down the word 'blogging'.

"I didn't know you wrote a blog," said a friend, peering over my shoulder.

"Well, actually, I don't," I replied.

"That's a shame," she said, "Because I'd read it."

And, having walked home and signed up to Blogspot, thus began my blogging endeavours. Since 2012, I've covered everything from baking to handicrafts and vintage finds, but this year will see big changes at What Hayley Did, as I embark upon my biggest adventure yet - my Year Abroad.

Over the course of this academic year, I'll be exploring Europe and - possibly - the world beyond, keeping my blog updated with my adventures. To keep in touch, like my Facebook page, follow me on Twitter, or take a look at the pretty pictures from my travels over on my Instagram.

What Hayley Did is open to broadening its horizons by working with brands to create sponsored posts, travel guides, reviews and paid content.

Feel free to email me at info@hayleyjohns.co.uk to say hello!
